On August 11, 2012, I was honored to be able to share my pet photography knowledge on stage at the Pro Photo Expo in Pasadena, California. The Pro Photo Expo is an annual 4 day conference dedicated to helping photographers grow their businesses. Many past attendees of the Pro Photo Expo have been requesting a pet photography program for years, so I was honored when the Professional Photographers of California committee invited Pet’ographique to have an Early Bird Program! My program was titled ‘The Psychology of Pet Photography’. The focus of my program was to educate photographers on how to work with animals, how animals think vs how humans think, and of course share all of my tips and tricks for getting animals attention for the camera.
My program was 1hr 15min so I created a highlight video for those of you who want to see me in action:
One of my favorite parts of the convention, aside from having a program, was the Mentor Lounge! Each speaker was scheduled to spend 1 hour at the Mentor Lounge. It was a place where guests that attended your program could meet with speakers one-on-one and receive private mentoring. I had the best group of people show up for my mentor time slot and we not only turned it into a group mentor meeting, but after our 1 hour was up, we all migrated to a nearby table and my mentor session lasted another 2 1/2 hours! I feel so at home sharing my photography knowledge. I got started in this wonderful industry with the help of 2 amazing photographers who were willing to share their knowledge with me, so I jump at the chance to pay it forward and inspire others.
Thank you to Pro Photo Expo for having me. Thank you to my awesome printing lab and studio lighting company for sponsoring my program. And thank you to my awesome traveling support team made up of my husband John, mother-in-law Gloria, awesome Studio Manager Ally, and top dog Ordering Specialist Ashlee! – Arica
